All human beings are subject to four kinds of troubles or problems:
(1) mental, such as fear, anxiety, pain caused by mishap, theft, loss and bereavement etc., sorrow for a relation or friend in distress or trouble etc., etc.,
(2) various diseases of body and senses
(3) quarrel, enmity and dispute with others
(4) pangs of death.

Some of these problems are partly or wholly remediable, while others of serious nature are wholly irremediable and beyond the power and control of humanity. In these latter cases man can get no help from others and has to reluctantly suffer extraordinary pains, troubles and privations.

The true religion or faith prescribes remedy for both sorts of troubles as mentioned above. The remedy is simple and can be applied by all if they will only willingly undertake to practice of devotion according to a special Yoga practice and try to liberate their spirit from the bondage of matter by raising it from its seat in the body to towards its source, the highest sphere of pure spiritual region, the abode of the Supreme Lord.

By doing so, all desires for worldly riches, pleasures, name, fame, power and greatness will gradually cease and in lieu thereof will spring up intense love for the Supreme Lord and a strong desire to approach His Holy abode.

Similarly, the more the spirit disentangles itself from the bondage of body and other objects of this world, the less will it feel the effect of afflictions and adversity which generally befall mankind in this world, and by the grace of the almighty Father acquire sufficient strength to withstand all temptations and privations in life and gladly meet death when it comes, in order to attain heavenly bliss in higher spheres and everlasting joy in the Highest Mansion of the Supreme Being.

There is no other way or means of overcoming or escaping the troubles and pains to which life is subject in this world except the practice of concentration and sublimation or elevation of spirit to higher spheres, according to the true religion and faith.

The troubles of living in a society are immense till we have some one who guides us at every step. The true religion is incomplete without a true guide and teacher.

The todays society is suffering, mostly, because of the lack of understanding of such concepts.

You are absolutely right Rohit. We Muslims have a true guide and a teacher who has taught us each and every aspect of life and that is Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him). Infact is the guide for all: he practically demonstrated as to how to be the best father, best business man, best brother, best leader, best ruler, best neighbor, best husband. If only we could follow him, we would attain peace and so would our society. Read his life, it might help :)

Great Subject!

Dr. Ratan I beleive all religions are true and the scriptures orignally sent by God said the same thing. Now the question is that we need a complete code of living; what yogis do is sometimes escapism. They escape from the world and aquire peace. Contrary to this, Islam tells you how to acquire peace by ”living in” the society. It does not tell you to abondon the world or the physical instincts as that is not the way which can be followed by the common man. In Islam all you have to do is to fulfill the requirements of your body by means of what is halal or permissionable. Like it says you must have sex, but get married and have sex. You must eat well, but earn honest and pure living and so on.

We need a social system which everyone can practice. Yoga or even Sufism is not meant for all since ordinary people can never practice them. Islam on the other hand provides a complete code of life, individual as well as social set up, which everyone can follow and attain peace.

Islam has already done so Dr. Ratan. See countries where Islamic law is implemented, Saudi Arabia and Iran for example, they have minimum crime rate. Thats a proof of Islam’s practicality. I am not advocating Islam being a Muslim, but i have studied it for myself and accepted after research...
Is there any other religion or philosophy which has a solution for all?

As you have mentioned earlier, People are not able to follow all stipulated acts of Islam. Thus are not getting the true results. But you will be aware of how any terrorist attack is linked to followers of Islam. I mean, public at large all over the world do not see Islam as helpful as you have mentioned above. There may be a long debate on this but I think we should look for pragmatic approach where every one can follow what is stipulated by the religion.

I believe every person has nice things to say about ones own religion concealing many more. But about the low crime rate in Saudi Arabia and Iran, I wonder what you have to say about the lack of freedom in the name of religious laws in these countries?

Dr. Ratan Islam is the fastest growing religion in America and europe. An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, year book 1986, gave the statistics of the increase of percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in ‘The Plain Truth’ magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235%, and Christianity had increased only by 47%.

Particularly after 9/ 11, Islam has come to lime light and people out of curosity have started reading about it and ending up embracing it...

You are right Arpita since this is how is seems on the out front. But see, what seems to be lack of freedom is infact what is meant for the benefit of individuals and society as a whole. It is just like the example of weraing a seat belt while driving and some would say refuse to do so saying ”No! This is stealing my freedom...” Similarly, if humans are set all free, there are more chances of this world being a jungle than a civilized place. The restrictions are meant for our safety just as wearing a seat belt while driving minimizes the chance of accident. Islam minimizes the chances of personal and social evils by these restrictions. :)

I think you are deviating from the main topic of attaining HIM. All religion leads to same goal and there should not be any comparison between them.

No new born is provided with any religion, we human bound them in these attachments.

I think when we say ”we have some one who guides us at every step” means a living Guru who is there for every kind of guidance.

When we say that the Holy book is our guide as Sikhs also say, then we need an interpreter who communicates the meaning to us. That process of translating the meaning may not be perfect and may not be valid for today which was valid say 400 years back.

Thus a presence of living Guru is must for the true religion to propagate and help the society reach the true objective.

That is so true. And guys know what, the true Guru has already come to the world and all the religious scriptures mention of him as the real guide. That is Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him). All the Hindu and Christian scriptures mention of him. Check out this clip:

Brother and sisters, we are not here to promote any religion or any person. What does it matter to you and me if someone accepts Islam or Hindusim? We dont get anything on personal level... i guess we are all trying to realize the TRUTH and find a true Guru to take us there. Now whoever he may be, hindu, muslim or christain, we need to find out and follow him. If you have an equalvant to Muhammad and you think he fulfills all aspects of life and is confirmed by God Himself in authentic scriptures, atleast i would be more than pleased to follow him.

I agree with Fariha, One should have a desire to walk on the path towards HIM, search a true teacher and then follow His guidance.

Most important are the steps of desire, the search, and get one True Guru. Rest will follow as one has qualified into the school and can graduate and reach the top of ladder.
