Only the Chief Editor should have a right to trash any article, prosed by members, star members or regional or super editors.

The concerned persons in management should look into this and implement the same at the earliest for the true growth of the Instablogs.

If one is not agreeing with any article he can simply write his views and the reasons.

But to trash any article which is like by many is shear indiscipline on part of the person who is doing it and the management of the blog administrators.

When Instablogs has open policy and allow any article to be posted and liked by members than what is the justification that which gives right of deleting an article.

If it is desired to control the quality of articles then let it be referred first to the editor and then on its approval it may be published. But once any one can freely anything then how one can delete the same without any valid rule or reason?

Yes, there should be no trashing on any article which is allowed to be submitted.

The Instablogs has agreed to do the needful and have informed to me that there will be strict control on the article trashing possibility.

People should decide what is good or what is bad.

I don`t want Instablogs to be a voice of a single guy (read Chief Editor).

Infact Instablogs doesn’t have a voice of its own. We let people be our voice.

If story is not popular it remain in upcoming for a given span of time say seven days and after that it is removed automatically.

I have given very clear logic about why trash should not be allowed. Face the world instead of closing your eyes.

Trash feature is important and it should remain there. What if someone posted illegal, rumor, hatred, pornographic material?

This feature helps users to keep Instablogs safe, clean and up to date.

Trash votes helps users in moderating the homepage. Again I repeating it takes more than one trash votes to remove article from the homepage.

If your article is trashed, it means multiple people have voted against you.

Completely agree with you and Nandini. Infact I can’t fathom why an emancipated soul like Dr Ratan will be influenced and hurt by such petty things as to who has trashed his articles? I thought he’s way above all these petty things...LOL:p!!!

One should write their views opposing what is written in a proper way. If the article is not there what and where are the brickbats going to strike?

If an article is trashed, it is not deleted. It is only removed from the homepage. It remains in your MyBlog.

And it takes more than one vote to get your article trashed. Just like it takes more than one vote to get any article popular.

Your views provide clear indication of what should be the system.

My article which was “trashed” (pl. see my Comment above) was trashed within less than 10 minutes of posting it on Instablogs, and when the article was still in the Upcoming section.

It was easy to understand it had been “trashed” by a person who had been infuriated by my Comments (and those of some other well informed members) in the ongoing discussion on an article at that time (the number of Comments had crossed a hundred). The inability to take part in a discussion with an unbiased and objective mindset led the person to “trash” my news based article that was in no way unfit for publication.

I don’t think 14 members had read that article within 10 minutes and all the 14 found it unfit or objectionable. I think, it is possible for any one member to “trash” an article, clicking the mouse sufficient number of times.

Democracy doesn’t permit one person to hurt another, or empower one person to prevent another from expressing his/her views. The suggestions made here, by a number of members, to introduce some regulations about the use of the TRASH feature are valid and they deserve consideration. ”Regulations” are the very foundation of ”civilization” and they need not be seen as a form of ”tyranny”.

One member can trash a story only once, just like one member is allowed only one vote/star per story.

Democracy has some benefits and some pitfalls as well.

Just tell me a better solution than to let our readers moderate the stories. We don`t want team of editors to police stories submitted. Not all stories deserve to be on homepage.

So there are two options, hire a team of editors to star or trash stories or let users do it.

Please tell me which is better one?

Some regulatory mechanism is needed for sure, and there are acceptable suggestions for the same in the Comments here.

If a member can ”trash” a story only once how does a story get ”trashed” in about ten minutes? Even the most popular writer on Instablogs is not read by that many readers within such a short time. (Should I believe that 14 members were waiting ready with their fingers on the left click button of their mouse to ”trash” that article so fast? 14 is the number of clicks needed to ”trash” an article, I am told.)

Nobody is judging you on Instablogs.

You write an article - it goes to your ”MyBlog”.

Once it receives enough popular votes, it moves to homepage.

On the other hand, if it receives enough ”Trash votes”, it moves away from homepage.

But it always remain in your MyBlog.

Your friends, fans etc can always read your opinions in your ”MyBlog”.

I understood from an earlier comment that when an article receives enough ’trash’ votes it is ’deleted’. I mean, I MISunderstood.

It would certainly hurt me, Dr. Ratan. No doubt about it.

I can imagine the state of mind when one has to undergo such a situation.

I hope the necessary steps will be taken by Insatblog to avoid such a situation for anyone.

This white film will only come if you yourself has trash it.

If I trash a story, only I will see the white film on that story and nobody else or those who have trash the story.

I recommend a feature of untrashing a story also.

You are very much right that there shouldn’t be any specific editorial control in Instablogs taking its nature of citizen’s voice. But then there should be some kind of governance as they are doing....

One suggestion that I can view very much suitable is the TRASH option should only be limited to very specific users taking their history into count, who not only submit stories but also writes on a regular basis.

Because, if it is for all then for instance a group of people (like me and my friends) can eliminate a story without any cause; just due to the fact that they don’t want that particular story.

What is this? Will any one ever ”trash” his/her own story? It is always possible to edit or completely rewrite the story.

The transparent film cover (or, what to call it?) appears on the article page when it is trashed. I saw it on my article when it had been trashed by some one.

I am saying it could be a mistake.

As I have told you only one trash vote can`t remove a story. It needs multiple trash votes, and whenever somebody trashes a story/comments it disappears for them, only for them.

And as I can see, you are one of the Top Members on Instablogs, your stories to be trashed needs more negative votes than usual member stories.

I am no doubt happy with what ever I am getting from people like you and HIM. The point is Instablogs should know how the community should behave.

My view is face the world because its not your own article which you want to trash.

The approach of a good society is live and let live.

If a person has true values and act accordingly the system can be good foe everyone except those who are behaving other way round.

If you are the owner then only you can destroy but if it is in public domain and you destroy or kill then it is treated as murder and one has to face the punishments for it.

Posting pictures can not justify any crime.

There are people here in this community who can not read the truth.

Even the editor’s consent to trash the article should be accomapined by proper reasons .What if the dictatorship of crooked minds on Instablogs gets replaced by the dictatorship of editor ? Either limit the intervention of editor or come to frame the panel of reputed and sensible members to decide the fate of controversial article.Then the decision of the panel to trash the article,being accompained by proper reasons,should be put to vote.If the majority comes to ratify the decision of the panel members with proper reason only then the green signal to trash the article be given .

It is common sense which every body needs to learn.

THE LONG AND SHORT OF TRASHING

I think there are some missing links . I have been on Instablogs for quite a long time now .I have come to realize that there is subtle attempts on the part of some denizens on Istablogs to clip the wings of some writers for the reasons best known to them .Like U.S. they are acting as a watchdog and like U.S. demolishing anyone who is not with them.They have adopted a certain pattern .Plant dubious stories about the person , spread bull-shit lies and if that’s not possible kill the very spirit of the writer via personal attacks enveloped in malicious intent.Instablogs ,of late ,has become idle platform for such distorted , crooked and derailed mindsets.

Cant’ they follow the simple rule that it’s best to ignore the piece if it dosen’t fit within your set of convictions.But that does not happpen. Some people start acting as ”Messiah ” even as they get exposed in an attempt to correct others.They are ready with their dos and don’ts ,fabrications of worse types and twisted logic.It’s not an attempt to silence these wicked people because that’s the very nature of world -to have all type of people . I am merely trying to create room for people who want to say something but are unable to do amid negative currents.
I have come across number of articles on Instablogs discussing size of penis , boobs etc. which for any sensible reader is shocking and appalling and devoid of any clinical purpose .I could have gone in for trash button but I didn’t do . Because it’s quite possible that such article are serving as a life-line for many on Instablogs who either want attention or seek pleausure .So whom am I to deny their quota of pleasure?Though my belief pattern has no place for these articles but this might not be the case with others.For them reading and endorsing such bogus article could be the top priority !!

In my eyes only those articles which are written to destroy the personna of writers , which are written with malicious intent aimed at defaming the writer and articles full of lies ,abuses and distotred facts are fit enough to be trashed but not without proper explanation and strict scrutiny .Let’s not downplay the image of anybody who is trying to resurrect certain values and beliefs with a right mindset. If you can’t digest such articles or for that mattter can’t come to terms with his/her popularity then please get away from his way instead of entering in personal vendetta with set of lies and prejudiced views .It’s my personal request not to turn Instablogs into a medium for settling personal scores . And if you are still intersted in locking bhorns please do it on merit and not via corrupt means .
